THE TRIBAL
COLLECTION
WHAT IS THE TRIBAL COLLECTION?
Tribal rugs are whimsical ideas inspired by nature, which turn freshly sheared hand-spun sheep’s wool and homemade domestic vegetable dyes in a few basic colors into primitive yet cheerful hand-knotted rugs and kilims. These are in turn instinctively woven for personal use in tents or huts, covering floors for cushion or walls as insulation for temperature control. Shearing and dying wool in small patches along with the primitive nature of basic geometric designs, gradually evolve and change during the weaving process as needed or as desired. The final results are unpretentious works of art with variations and irregularities and in turn, this gives them a more rustic charm, character, authenticity, uniqueness, as well as value.
These smaller rustic, symbolic, and geometric rugs fit in well with modern décor and contemporary spaces. They are usually woven by the women and girls of Qashqai, Afshari, Lori, Kurdish, Turkman, Balouchi, and Talish tribes.
